Dianne Bergant, CSA (Congregation of St. Agnes) is Professor of Biblical Studies at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.  She served as president of the Catholic Biblical Association of America in 2000-01 and has been a member of the Chicago Catholic/Jewish Scholars Dialogue for more than 25 years.  She has been the Old Testament book reviewer of The Bible Today, where she also was a member of the editorial board for 25 years—five of those as the magazine’s general editor.  From 2002 through 2005, she wrote the weekly column, “The Word,” for America magazine.  She is on the editorial board of Biblical Theology Bulletin and Chicago Studies.   Her many publications include Preaching the New Lectionary, volumes A, B, & C (Liturgical Press); A Word for Every Season, years A, B & C (Paulist Press), People of the Covenant: An Invitation to the Old Testament (Sheed and Ward, 2001), and Song of Songs: The Love Poetry of Scripture (New City Press, 1998).  During the academic year 2009-2010 she held the chair of Distinguished Professor of Christian Culture at Providence College in Providence.  She is presently working in the areas of biblical interpretation and biblical theology, particularly issues of peace, ecology, and feminism.
